Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci is a Romanian gymnast (born 12 November 1961, in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej [now OnestiGheorghe Gheorghiu Dej [now Onesti] Romania). She was the first to achieve a perfect 10 on an Olympic occasion. Bela Karrolyi was a Romanian gymnastics teacher who was later Comaneci's coach, first discovered Comaneci when she was just six years old. The year 1969 was the first time she took part in the Romanian Junior Games where she placed 13th. In 1970, she won the title. She won three golds in her debut competition at a junior Olympic meet in 1972 that was held by the communist bloc nations. In 1973 and 1974, she became the junior all-round champion. When she competed for the first time at the senior level, Lyudmila Turkishcheva, a Russian athlete, won five gold medals, as well being awarded a silver. She was the winner of the American Cup in New York City in 1976 and became the first female to do a reverse double salto, which is dismounting from the uneven bars that are parallel. Carol Marie Wayne is a US citizen born September 6 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. Carol was a part of the world of entertainment as a teenager. Her career began when she joined her sister Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling show of entertainment. The shows featured the ice skating of which was accompanied by theatrical music.
